Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco on February 24, 1955. At birth, he was adopted by Paul Reinhold Jobs and Clara Jobs. Paul and Clara had gotten married in 1946, ten days after they met. After they had gotten married, Clara Jobs found out she couldn't give birth because she had an ectopic pregnancy. So 9 years later, they decided to adopt a child. And that's when they claimed Steve Jobs from the foster home as their son.
When Steve was 5 years old, the Jobs family moved from San Francisco to Mountain View, CA. Later, his parents adopted a daughter, by the name of Patty. Paul worked as a mechanic and a carpenter, and taught young Steve how to work with electronics and learn to be agile with his hands. In the family garage, Paul would demonstrate to Steve how to take apart and rebuild varieties of electronics. As a result, Steve had an early hobby of technical tinkering.
Clara was an accountant and taught young Steve how to read before he went to school. When he actually did start formal schooling, he was riddled with frustrations throughout his youth. At Monta Loma Elementary School in Mountain view, he had a knack for playing pranks on his classmates. Even so, school officials recommended he skip two grades on account of his test scores. But his parents elected for him to skip only one grade.
Jobs then attended Cupertino Junior High and Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. At Homestead, Jobs became friends with Bill Fernandez, a neighbor who shared the same interests in electronics. Fernandez introduced Jobs to his neighbor, Steve Wozniak, a computer and electronics whiz kid, who was also known as the "Woz". In 1969 Wozniak started building a little computer board with Fernandez that they named "The Cream Soda Computer", which when they showed to Jobs, he seemed really interested. They all soon became really good friends.
